The Glastonbury Experience

Welcome to our site

Glastonbury, originally called ‘The Ancient Isle of Avalon’, is on one level a Somerset market town, but from another perspective is a unique and sacred place that has potentially a role of spiritual significance to play in relation to both the British Isles and the planet as a whole.

It is really at the vanguard for aligning our worldly, human endeavors to a sacred, deeply felt, numinous vision.

This Web Site

To help promote awareness of Glastonbury as an internationally recognized center of pilgrimage and transformation – and to provide information on the people, and the projects they have established over the years, to enable this place to thrive.

We are endeavoring to show how their myriad ideas, explorations and activities are all expressions of a chaotic yet mysteriously coherent vision, woven like a colourful tapestry, seeking to bridge the ever widening gulf between the realm of the tangible and the subtle, spiritual dimensions of our existence.

We seek to reveal how in the midst of darkening materialism and conflict a new paradigm, a new world, is slowly emerging where human endeavor is nourished by ancient, spiritual roots that reach backwards through the remote mists of time and flower into the future.

Progress with the Site

We are building an encyclopedia of information on Glastonbury, past, present and future, in all its aspects, including its activities as a market town and as a world recognized Centre of spiritual transformation.

There is already a lot of information available on individual websites on specific projects but surprisingly little information about the people involved in starting and running these sites.

We started this project in 2015. We accumulated a substantial amount of information but in a slightly haphazard fashion. After some time we realized that there was a huge amount of work involved needing a great deal of time, effort and money to build a comprehensive and useful site. As a result we paused to consider how best to move forward.

We have now decided that the most practical course is to build the site based on current specific projects and their staff and contacts. We have started on:

Library of Avalon

In due course, we will add other key community projects.

Using the Site

There is a search facility on each page that enables specific items to be found

We have also set up the index shown below where pages already on the site may be readily found. The ‘People, Past and Present’ slot has a time line attached so that you may look up people prominent at a specific time.

The Landscape The History Myths and Legends Glastonbury's Purpose?
Pilgrimage The People, Past and Present Organisations and Centres Buildings
Education Arts Projects Healing
Concepts and Ideas Spiritual Paths Shops and Businesses Events

Throughout this site, links coloured blue have a page complete with content associated with them, links coloured red do not yet have a completed page connected.

At the moment we are channeling all entries through our small management team.

Initially we are concentrating upon finalizing the biographies of people at present listed in red and we will be making direct contact with these people. If you are one of these people, and would like to make your contribution direct, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please have a look at the separate page Biographies where we give details of the basic details that we are seeking in biographies.

We are in the early stages of building the site and our small team is self-supporting. At present we do not have the resources to expand our team and so the rate at which we can build the site is limited. We would be very happy if we were able to move faster in working on the huge amount of potential work involved. If you would like to support us in any way in building the site, please have a look at the separate page - Support Glastopedia.
